8 Anti Aging Foods That Will Make You Look Younger & Feel Healthier

Anti aging is a topic that has received an immense amount of attention and research over the past few years and rightly so-who doesn't want to look younger, feel younger and live longer. Although aging is inevitable, that doesn't mean that the signs of aging cannot be kept at bay. I've been asked by countless colleagues and clients, "What is the key to reversing the aging process?" The answer is quite simple and it includes 3 elements--your lifestyle, your diet and your exercise routine are the key factors in anti aging. Your diet is very important in helping you look younger and feel healthier. A properly maintained diet can give you resonating skin complexion and also reduce wrinkles; provide sustained endurance, combat many diseases such as cancer and much more.

Research studies have been focusing a great deal, in recent years, on determining which kinds of foods have the most extensive anti aging attributes. They have concluded that the overall antioxidant levels found in foods and their latent potential to absorb free radicals, which are responsible for cell damage and premature aging, are key when making healthy food choices. Along with the antioxidant capacity of foods in your diet you must also eat better. What is meant by eating better? Well, cutting down your salt consumption, limiting your pure sugar intake and cutting down but not eliminating carbohydrates. The following is a list of 8 foods that promote anti aging and will keep you looking and feeling younger.

Berries: Blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and grapes all contain high antioxidant levels which help to protect the body from damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can lead to the development of cancer and cause premature wrinkling of the skin. Berries purposely at the top of the list.
Whole Grain: Whole grains are a good source of vitamin B, E, magnesium, iron and fiber. They are also a valuable source of antioxidants that are not found in fruits and vegetables. Some common types of whole grains are brown rice, whole wheat pastas and breads and oatmeal. Whole grains should be a part of everyone's daily diet.
Fish: Omega 3 fatty acids, found in oily fish such as salmon, have been known to aid the immune system and lower the risk of heart disease. Researchers also speculate that omega 3 fatty acid may help inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
Water: Drink plenty of water every day - most doctors recommend 7 to 10 glasses a day. Water flushes out toxins, keeping your body and skin clean. Also your skin will look clearer and plumper if it is not dry.
Chlorella: Chlorella is a small green algae which is loaded with, proteins, carbohydrates, all of the B vitamins, vitamins C and E, amino and enzymes. Chlorella can also aid the body in breaking down persistent hydrocarbon and metallic toxins such as mercury, cadmium and lead while strengthening the immune system.
Garlic: Garlic is said to have a number of benefits whether cooked or in raw form. Studies have found that it aids in prevention of acne, assists in managing high cholesterol levels and also protects the body against heart disease and cancer.
Ginger: Known mostly for its digestive benefits, ginger helps in the digestion of fatty foods and the breakdown of protein. Ginger also reduces pain associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Soy: Soy is known to stabilize blood sugars, decrease menopausal symptoms in postmenopausal women and prevent osteoporosis.
Adjusting your diet to include the above foods along with light exercising and avoiding harmful routines such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption will do wonders for your body and health. Consuming the right nutrients that promote anti aging is the ultimate solution. For myself, I enhance my diet with herbal supplements to boost my body's ability to combat the signs of aging. There are thousands supplements to choose from and I've tried many. I personally use a product called ResJuve because of its antioxidant content and its anti aging properties delivered through a substance known as resveratrol.

How to Lose Weight in a Week With Ease

Is it really possible to lose weight in one week?

This question may be hovering in your mind given the testimonies of many persons who have been engaged in various weight loss programs without success. Knocking off excess weight could be a challenging task when you consider the discipline that is required. You may find it difficult shedding weight because of a variety of reasons such as your body chemistry, difficulty in keeping your scheduled work out programs, the nature of your job and a lot more. The important thing to note is that you can actually start losing weight right from today. It is a battle that starts up there in your mind. Whether you win or lose depend on the approach you choose to adopt. Some tips on how to lose weight in a week and start seeing results are put together to help you succeed in your weight loss program.

Have a scale at home

This is an invaluable device you must have if you are really serious to take off excess pounds from your body. The only way to know if the program you have chosen to follow is working after one week of trial is to measure your weight with a scale. Your initial weight before the commencement of the program should be recorded. Weekly progress report should also be recorded after the program must have commenced in full swing.

Eat more vegetables

One sure way to lose weight quickly is to watch your eating habit. Taking in plenty of vegetables and reducing the amount of carbohydrate you consume will help you realize your dream of getting a slimmer body. Cutting down your carbohydrate intake makes little room for conversion of the abundance of carbohydrate into fat and keeps your calories low.

Avoid eating out

When you are watching your weight one thing you must try to avoid is eating out of the home. The simple reason is that you have total control of what you prepare at home compared to what is made available when you eat outside. Whenever it becomes unavoidable that you eat out of the home, make sure you cover the lost grounds in the next couple of days cutting down the excess calories you consumed outside the home.

Use fruits for snacks in place of junks

Make provision for your favorite fruits and use them whenever the craving for snacks arises. One way many people add up weight easily is through intermittent intake of crappy snacks. You can get this checked with the use of fruits.

Exercising

Draw up a weekly work out plan for yourself and make sure you stick to your plan. Exercise is a good way to quicken your body metabolism and burn off excess calories.

Join a weight loss forum

No person is an island. It is always good to flock together with likeminded individuals if you wish to get a good result. You can learn quickly through the experiences of other persons like you in such groups.

Losing weight is something that has to do with your mind. It is important that you capture in your mind how to lose weight in a week is possible before even venturing out to accomplish the programs you have set for yourself. Do not despise the days of little beginning. Whatever little improvement you achieve in your first week should be seen as a motivation to do better. With such a mindset the sky can only be a starting point in your weight loss program.

Avoid Trans-Fats and Lose Pounds Fast

What are trans-fats and why is it important we avoid them if we want to lose pounds fast? In order to make trans-fats, normally healthy vegetable oils, such as corn oil or soybean oil are chemically changed into what is known as partially hydrogenated oils. These man-made oils are then used widely in the food industry as substitutes for saturated fats. There are some naturally occurring trans-fats found in meat and dairy produce but these are at such low levels compared to the levels of the man-made variety as to be insignificant.
These trans-fats, or artificial unsaturated fats are found in baked goods, fried foods, margarines and pastries and all manner of other food items. Their primary use is to extend shelf life; after all it makes a product more economic if it can sit on the shelf for a few weeks rather than a few days. They are also a cheap alternative to natural saturated fats. This does not mean we should all switch back to a diet full of natural saturated fats because the intake of all fats should be kept to a minimum. However there is evidence that artificially produced fats do more harm than naturally occurring saturated fats because our bodies are not designed to cope with them.

The reason these fats are bad for our bodies is that they increase the risks of developing coronary heart disease, they raise the bad LDL type of cholesterol in our blood while simultaneously lowering the HDL or good type of cholesterol.
The health risk from trans-fats was very low when we were only exposed to the natural varieties. Now that we have so many processed and pre-packaged foods this risk has risen substantially and is a significant health risk factor of which we should all be aware.
There have been links found between trans-fats and Cancer, Alzheimer's, infertility, diabetes, liver dysfunction and obesity. Regarding obesity, the harmful effects are quite conspicuous. If you eat a diet containing these harmful fats you are more likely to gain weight even if you eat the same number of calories as in a diet containing no trans-fats. This surely is a very concerning thought and should cause everyone to sit up and take note of what they are putting into their bodies.
It's good to hear that some countries are choosing to do something about this problem. Denmark and Switzerland have imposed bans on trans-fats with several others following. Congress in the USA has, since 2006, required products containing trans-fats to provide appropriate labelling and there are some further restrictions in some states.

If this is such an important issue how can we make sure we stop eating trans-fats? According to the American Heart Foundation, if we reduce our intake of trans-fats to between 5 and 8 teaspoons per day then it's unlikely we'll come to much harm. This is good news if you're trying to lose pounds fast because if you are following a healthy diet then getting down to these levels should be very easy, so long as you keep an eye on food labelling.

Oprah Winfrey and the Acai Berry Supplement Scam!

Ever since Oprah Winfrey featured Acai berries on her famous day time tv talk show where it was voted to be the number one super food, all kinds of chatter has been circulating across the main stream wire, as well as the internet, about this amazing little super fruit called the Acai Berry. Now it's not just Oprah, Rachael Ray has featured Acai Berries on her show and a number of celebrities have endorsed Acai berries including Brad Pitt. Now what does all of this have to do with Acai Berry Scams? I'm getting to it.

Now, I don't want to scare anyone away from Acai berry supplements or any Acai berry products. These products can aid in everything from weight loss to heart health, to increased libido. But the thing you need to be aware of are all of the companies that are out there praying on the good name of Oprah Winfrey and Rachael Ray in order to sell Acai berry supplements and pills. Now while 95% of these companies are reputable - like any thing else - there are a few bad apples in the bunch.
What a few not-so-nice Acai berry supplement companies have done is to offer Acai berry supplement free trials, only to sign you up to a subscription that it is incredibly difficult to get out of because there is no cancellation button or contact information anywhere on the site. It seems people just see the name Oprah and they sign right up without first doing a little research.
Now, there is nothing wrong with a free trial bottle, nearly every supplement company does this, good and bad alike. The only thing you need to do before you sign up for a free trial bottle of Acai Berry supplements is to make sure that there is a cancellation link somewhere (likely the bottom) on the website. Another good sign is when the company doesn't force you into a subscription but offers a one-time-purchase of Acai berry supplements if you should wish to go that way instead of a month subscription. So whether Oprah Winfrey endorses Acai Berry supplements or not, steer clear of anything that looks like an Acai Berry Scam.

This Halloween Goodie Actually Helps You Lose Weight! Plus, 3 Tips For A Healthier Holiday

As Halloween approaches, we conjure up images of candy, candy, and more candy. But amidst this holiday of sugary snacks, there is a healthy treat you can dish up that actually helps you lose weight. This delectable treat is proudly displayed in most homes, yet often unseen. This treat is frequently discarded while carving the annual Jack-o-lantern. Have you guessed it yet?
It's the pumpkin seed! Pumpkin seeds provide more magnesium than virtually any other food. Magnesium is an essential mineral that is depleted by stress. Not surprisingly, deficiency is very common. Low magnesium levels contribute to a multitude of health problems including Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Heart Failure, Heart Attacks, Childhood Behavioral Disorders, Tooth Decay, Anxiety, Depression, Irritability, Muscle Spasms, Restless Leg Syndroe, and Obesity. Magnesium is also known to protect the brain from the toxic effects of heavy metals such as lead or mercury.
So before you throw away those Halloween pumpkins, scoop out the seeds, roast them in the oven, and share them with your loved ones. Pumpkin seeds are a great addition to granola or your morning cereal. I keep a jar in my refrigerator and add them to my yogurt each morning.
If you are concerned about any of the medical conditions listed above and aren't overjoyed at the prospect of eating pumpkin seeds, you can obtain magnesium from other food sources such as green, leafy vegetables. (Although the pumpkin seeds far exceed other food sources in quantity of magnesium.) Another way to obtain this nutrient, which is one of the most frequent nutrient deficiencies in Americans, is to take a relaxing bath in Epsom salts, which contain magnesium.
(Remember that many medications such as nitroglycerine, estrogen, and nicotine are administered in patches because the skin absorbs the substance and deposits it into the blood stream for use within the body) If you prefer supplements, try magnesium citrate, which is easier to absorb than other forms of magnesium. Too much magnesium is rarely dangerous; it causes loose bowel movements.
Aside from eating pumpkin seeds, there is another tip to keep your health, and the health of your family, in check during this inherently unhealthy holiday. As a mother, I am aware that convincing children to forego the candy they have collected may not be realistic. Rather, here is a simple way to minimize the negative health effects of candy: simply allow children (or yourself) to eat a limited quantity, but only after consuming a high fiber meal or snack first. This strategy will help prevent the insulin surges that are associated with sugary foods and lead to a host of illnesses.
Having children wash their treats down with water rather than sugary juices or soft drinks is another simple way to minimize their impact on health.
So to insure a healthier Halloween, remember to save those pumpkin seeds, eat a healthy meal before indulging in those tasty treats, and wash them down with water.

Losing Weight in Autumn

When the trees shed their leaves in autumn and the days are closing in, a lot of overweight people wish that not only the leaves, but also the pounds would fall.
The goal is usually to be slim and fit for the Christmas holidays and New Year´s Eve.
However, losing weight especially in autumn can prove difficult for many people. There are just too many temptations in the time before and around Christmas, since you can buy most Christmas cookies and sweets already in September...
And before you know it, you have one or two bags of unhealthy food in your shopping cart.
Contingent upon the shorter days in autumn, we have a hard time doing some sportive activities. At nightfall we tend to get more tired and a bit sluggish. If you don´t stay consequently on your diet and if you don´t have some physical exercise, you are quickly in the old rut again and gain weight instead of loosing.
What can you do to get a slim body?
When you are aware of the traps, you can handle things easier. Try to ignore the sweets while shopping. This is easier said than done, I know. Before you go shopping, make a resolve not to buy any sweets. With a bit of goodwill you should be able to implement this intention. Provide yourself with fresh fruits from the fruit and vegetable section in your supermarket or from your local greengrocer. Having your cart loaded with good and healthy stuff, you should be able to pass the cookies section. Buy seasonal fruit and enjoy the thought of preparing a nice fruit salad when you get home. This image will distract you from the cookies and chocolates and raise the appetite for fruit.
If you want to lose weight in autumn you can help yourself with vegetables of the season. Especially in those last months of the year, cabbage is a good choice. Cabbage is low on calories, for instance white cabbage, red cabbage or savoy cabbage. Chop it in pieces or slices, cook it in little olive-oil, with onions and caraway seed (caraway makes the cabbage more digestible) until it is soft-boiled. Don´t stew it too long, though. The cabbage can by all means have some bite.
Cauliflower, broccoli and Brussel sprouts are also seasonal products. Briefly cooked in vegetable broth, flavored with salt and pepper and a bit of nutmeg you have lots of vitamins and little calories.
If you are accustomed to cream sauces and don´t want to go without it, you can prepare a sauce with skimmed milk instead of cream to go with the vegetables.
If you are interested in losing weight fast, try a diet with a cabbage soup. But please be mindful: people with internal diseases, diabetes or eating disorder should ask their doctor before dieting in this manner. To diet in this way over a longer period of time would mean a malnutrition. So, try it for a week and see if you like it!
Here comes the recipe:
1 big white cabbage or sweetheart cabbage (approx.2 pounds)
1 - 2 onions
1 - 3 garlic cloves (if requested)
3 tablespoons olive-oil
1\2 cup of dry white wine (if requested)
1,5 - 2 liquid quarts vegetable broth (or only hot water)
2 teaspoons caraway seeds
salt
pepper
some fresh herbs

Chop the cabbage in medium-sized pieces, the onions and the garlic in medium-fine pieces. Heat the oil in a big pot and sauté the onions. Add the garlic. Add the wine, which should boil down to a minimum. Add now the caraway seeds. Add the cabbage and stew it lightly. Add the hot vegetable broth and season with salt and pepper, if necessary. Allow it to simmer for approx. 20 minutes. The softer the cabbage is, the more digestible it is. Serve the soup with fine chopped, fresh herbs.
You can eat as much soup as you want all day through, since it has almost no calories.
The voracious appetite for sweets occurs often in the last months of the year, through the lack of daylight. Whenever possible, go for a walk during daylight. If you work until late at night, try to get some fresh air at the weekend.
In addition to that, a vitamin-rich nutrition regulates the appetite. Should the voracious appetite gain the upper hand, try a low-fat junket or yogurt with fruits. This is a good alternative and helps to keep the voracious appetite for sweets under control.
If you stop doing sports now because of the ugly weather, you will be angry with yourself next year. Try to hang on and go for a walk or go swimming one to two times a week. Cycling may be not so nice in autumn and winter, maybe you want to go to a fitness studio instead. In this case you are not dependent on the weather. Firm appointments in gymnastic or aerobic groups with like-minded people help a lot to accomplish your goal, namely losing weight in autumn.
