We live in a society where eating has become more of a pleasure than real need. Maintaining a healthy body weight has become a problematic task. When starting out a diet, the first thing we should take care is our nutrition. If we fix this, everything will fall into place sooner or later.

In this weight loss and health tips, I will speak about a very nutritional food;the legumes. Legumes are seeds, or pods of leguminous plants. They are known since antiquity, and are among the most nutritious natural foods. There are currently 600 types of legumes, and 13, 000 varieties. Some of the most popular are: soy beans, black beans, kidney beans, lentils, chick peas, black eye beans, red beans, peas. Legumes are low in calories, have 0 cholesterol, and are very inexpensive, making them an ideal part of a healthy diet.

All legumes are rich in essential nutrients including; protein, fiber, fatty acids, antioxidants, iron, potassium, b vitamins, folic acid. They are good substitutes to animal protein. Soya beans are the legumes with the most protein. Thanks to the protein, legumes can help repair cells from free radical damage, build muscle, burn fat, and assist digestion in the body.

A meal with legumes will fill you fast, and for longer without the insulin levels go up, because they contain a lot of fibre. According to recent studies, people who consume often legumes have low risk to develop a heart disease, and colon cancer. Other studies have shown that legumes have strong anti-aging elements.

You can buy them raw, frozen, or in cans. Preparation and cooking methods vary, but usual cooking time is between 30 to 60 minutes. Some of them, you might need to soak them into the water for a few hours before cooking. If you choose to eat them straight from the can, rinse them once to get rid of the extra sodium. You can make many different meals all nutritious and delicious; salads, dips, soups, and stews.

Legumes have a bad reputation because of the gasses they produce, the reason for that, maybe is the lack of enzymes in the digestive system, to avoid these problems, start introducing them into your diet slowly, and in moderate portions, or pick a legume that is not as gas producing as others, i. e black eye beans;and don't forget to drink lots of water.

3 Tips for Men to Lose Weight


Today I have got 3 fantastic tips for weight loss which we use in our studio with clients every day. These tips have got the best results for the least effort for our guys, so we advise them to all our male clients. Have a quick read below and see what results you can get for yourself.

1. Limit Processed Carbohydrates

We have found that most just simply men don't want to count calories or start weighing food. Therefore, simple steps are the way to go. One of the most effective weight loss methods to start with is reducing processed carbohydrate foods. These include bread, pasta, cakes, biscuits and the like. You don't have to avoid them completely, but limit them to once or twice a week. I'll not bore you with the scientific details, but these foods are one of the biggest causes of belly bulge around today.

2. Eat Whole Natural Foods

Whole natural foods include chicken, beef, fish, vegetables, fruit, eggs and nuts. They should roughly look like their original state. For example - chicken fillets are great, chicken nuggets are not. Natural foods are full-to-brim with healthy nutritional ingredients.

To help you with your meals, a third of your plate should be filled with a healthy meat, and the rest should mostly be vegetables or fruit. This is a very simple tip, but very effective for weight loss.

3. Combine Weight Training and Cardio

A combination of weight training and cardio is perfect for losing weight. The two forms of exercise have different effects on the body. When you use both together, you are in weight loss heaven. Cardio can be anything from running outside, to using a gym machine inside. For weight training, you don't need to go overboard, a set of dumbbells will suffice if you cannot get to a gym. I have made a simple workout to get you started below.

Start with 10 minutes cardio (running, fast walk, treadmill, bike, cross trainer, doesn't matter just get moving and get heart rate up)

Move onto the following weight training exercises.

Squat: 4 sets of 10-15 reps

Bench Press: 4 sets of 8-10 reps

Bent-over row: 4 sets of 10-12 reps

Kettlebell swings: 4 sets of 15-20 reps

After the weights are done, finish with 10 minutes cardio. Make sure you push yourself hard for these last 10 minutes. This is where the fat burning magic happens. Go hard and get sweaty.

1. First, Decide Your Starting Point

Before you think about the method that you will use, think about where you are and what you are out to achieve. That is; what is your current weight and where do you intend to be at the end of the day? What is your Body Mass Index? Think about what you consider to be your ideal weight. You can then set out your goals, but only remember that they should be reasonable and achievable goals. Reducing the insulin in your body will result in a reduction of fat in your body. Remove starches and sugars from your diet to control your appetite.

3. Go For A Proper Training Program

Most people start off a training program at a very high rate only to go down half way through the regime. In most cases, this is because they did not choose the right training/exercising program. Remember that what works well for someone else might not work for you. This is why you should go for a tailor- made training program. However, even with the right training program, remember not to overdo things. Overdoing things might leave you with negative results such as a sore body. If you are on a tight budget, you do not have to go to the gym to lose weight. You can do the training in the comfort of your home.

4. Always Motivate Yourself

You will not achieve much if you do not keep yourself motivated. You are the best person to do this to yourself. Motivate yourself, focus on your goals and have the determination to achieve up to the last goal. Keep encouraging yourself even when others might not seem to notice the change in you.
